Terms of Service

Customers booking the services of 1 Man 1 Van Shetland (company) acknowledge having read and agreed to the following terms of service.

Fees

Hire/services of van and driver:

  • £22/hr. Minimum charge of 1 hour.

Travel to Islands will incur additional costs due to ferry fares and longer travel times.

Charge time begins upon the arrival of driver and van and ends on completion of agreed work activity. After 1st hour charges rounded up to nearest half hour.

Payment by cash, card or by mobile phone is accepted and is due immediately on completion of work activity. Payment by cheque is not accepted.

Transportation of Your Items

The company offers the services of a medium sized van and driver.

  • The driver can assist you with loading and unloading the van.

  • It is the customers responsibility to pack items ready for transportation, unless otherwise agreed.

  • The driver is not responsible for damage arising as a result of packing which was inadequate to withstand normal handling during transit.

  • It is the customers responsibility to ensure that the item(s) they require to be moved will fit in the van. You can check this on the van details page.

The following items will not be accepted for transport.

  • Potentially dangerous, damaging or explosive items, including gas bottles, aerosols, paints, firearms and ammunition.

  • Fuels and other flammable liquids in unsuitable/illegal containers.

  • Any animals, birds, fish or reptiles.

  • Prohibited or stolen goods, drugs or pornographic material.

  • Fridges and freezers that have not been fully defrosted and emptied of food, unless by agreement.

  • Washing machines that have not been emptied of water and hoses secured so as to ensure no leakage in the van.

Insurance

The company has Goods in Transit insurance and Public Liability insurance in place.

Goods in Transit Insurance covers items against damage or loss while they are being loaded up, during transportation and unloading from the van. All goods in transit are insured for up to £10,000, claims exceeding this amount are non-refundable. The excess on this policy is £250 which is payable by the customer.

Public Liability Insurance protects against claims of property damage or injuries that a third party suffers as a result of business activity.

Cancellation

In the event of cancellation by the customer there will be no cancellation fee.

In the event that the company cancels the service for any reason they will not be held liable for any losses incurred by the customer.

The company will not be held responsible for any delays due to circumstances beyond our control including, but not limited to weather conditions, road conditions, difficulty in access.

Acceptance of these terms and conditions do not affect customer rights as described in the Consumer Contracts Regulation 2013.
